University of Calgary Teaching Awards

The University of Calgary Teaching Awards recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. The awards recognize excellence in diverse learning contexts, by individuals and teams, and through curriculum design and educational leadership. A University of Calgary Teaching Award is a distinguished honour for members of our university community who, through their commitment and expertise, create deep and lasting learning experiences.

The Teaching Awards are comprised of the following categories:

Nominations for the University of Calgary Teaching Awards close Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Adjudication of the awards will take place in February 2017.

Preparing a Nomination Letter 

The nomination letter provides the readers’ first impression of the nominee and is one of the most important documents in a successful nomination package. Please see the following resources on how to prepare a nomination letter.

The awards will be adjudicated by committees chaired by the Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) or designate, and consisting of two faculty members, a graduate student, an undergraduate student, and a representative from the Educational Development Unit. The committees will be guided by the adjudication rubric for each award.

Celebration of Teaching

Recipients will be recognized at a Celebration of Teaching event in March 2017, during which the awards will be presented.
