content imageThe Teaching & Learning Centre and IT are pleased to announce the arrival of Elluminate Live!, new web-based audioconferencing technology that allows for real–time lectures, discussions and meetings. Instructors can hold online lectures with students, communicate with distance learners in virtual space, and collaborate with other faculty and researchers around the world via online meetings.

The software is easy to use, flexible and accessible. Instructors can easily create a session within a Blackboard course or using the Live! Manager tool. Elluminate Live! allows for simultaneously use of PowerPoint slides, whiteboards, and other applications during an online session. The software includes online breakout rooms for smaller discussions, text messaging capabilities, and survey and assessment tools. Sessions can also be recorded for future review or playback.

The Teaching & Learning Centre played a lead role in the implementation of Elluminate Live! at the U of C in August 2005 and is currently offering instructor training programs for the software. For more information about Elluminate Live!, or to set up a training session, visit http://www.elearn.ucalgary.ca/elluminate or contact Joanne Carruthers, E–Learning Coordinator, at carruthe@ucalgary.ca or 220–7364.
