The Taylor Institute supports instructors and staff to effectively use learning technologies and spaces by
- Mentoring, coaching and training
- Developing new technologies to support learning and teaching
- Providing flexible, supportive spaces for instructors to experiment with new technologies and applications
- Consulting with instructors and staff on technology needs and options
Tools and applications
The Taylor Institute supports instructors to use a number of campus technology platforms, including Desire2Learn, Adobe Connect, Top Hat, Adobe Presenter, UCalgary Blogs, UCalgary ePortfolios and UCalgary Badges.
Workshops
The Taylor Institute offers workshops for instructors, staff and graduate students on using campus technology platforms.
Resources
The elearning site contains a large number of PDF guides and introductory videos to support instructors with setting up, using and troubleshooting D2L, Adobe Connect, Adobe Presenter, Top Hat and UCalgary Blogs. Support resources are categorized by topic and sorted from introductory guides to experimenting with more advanced tools.
Learning technologies coaches
The Learning Technologies Faculty Support Program is a two-year pilot that will see graduate student coaches embedded in participating faculties to support instructors with using learning technologies. The Taylor Institute trains, coordinates and supports the network of coaches.
Faculty design studio
The Taylor Institute maintains a faculty design studio to allow instructors to experiment with new tools, applications and teaching approaches. The Taylor Institute also allows instructors to sign out equipment through a technology lending library.
Technology development
The Taylor Institute develops novel and innovative applications and platforms to support teaching and learning.
