A student practiced in the gallery for a bit today. Not bad. Love the acoustics of the gallery/loft/atrium space.

2015/365photos
I just posted the set of daily photos for 2015, wrapping up the 9th year I’ve done a 365photos project.
I’m trying a new publishing tool – instead of generating static HTML from Aperture, I’m exporting 960px-wide images from Photos, uploading those to my server, and using UberGallery to generate the web pages automatically. I haven’t done much with metadata for the photos, so I’m just showing the photo and a title if available. I saved a snapshot of the generated HTML as the index.html file for that directory, so the server load should be pretty trivial, and it shouldn’t require active PHP scripts to run in the future…
Now, to start year 10 tomorrow…
NW Calgary Bicycle Commute Timelapse
A 15km ride from UofC to Deepest NW Calgary – only a couple of blocks worth of marked bicycle lanes, and a couple km of separated pathways. I used a helmet-mounted GoPro Hero 4 Silver set to shoot a 4K timelapse with frames recorded every second, played back at 30fps. Nice.
slow motion invertebrates
I did my BSc in zoology, and wound up focusing on invertebrates. There’s an amazing diversity and beauty in them. There’s just something about radial symmetry that still mesmerizes me.

2013 Tour of Alberta
Evan and I headed downtown for the finish of Stage 5 of the Tour of Alberta (along with several thousand others). What an amazing event, and a fantastic finish. Hopefully this isn’t just a one-off – it would be incredible to see it come back next year, with some mountain stages (the 1 mountain stage that had been planned was rerouted because of the June flooding in Alberta – hopefully next year’s route would include a stage over Highwood Pass and maybe through the Rockies).
I took a boatload of photos, and we had a blast. Now Evan wants a new bike…

PONG 2013
With the recent rash of video games / books / poems / tweets converted into blockbuster summer movies, I put together a package to pitch to the studios. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome.
