I just removed my Cateye bike computer – first time in maybe 30 years that I haven’t had some form of dedicated magnet-sensing bike computer mounted on my bike. Now, it’s iPhone + Cyclemeter + Wahoo RFLKT. Seems a little excessive, but I’d been tracking rides using Cyclemeter anyway, so the dedicated RFLKT screen means I don’t have 2 gadgets tracking the rides…
gave the Fast Bike™ a nice warm shower. cleanest it’s been since I got it… almost ready to take her back on the road…
just slapped on a fancy new 45nrth xerces tire on the rear wheel of my trusty kona dew fs winter bike, to replace my now-janky schwalbe snow stud. the new one is thinner – 700x30c rather than the 38c I had been using in the winter. and 140 aluminum carbide studs. should be fun on the icy morning rides, while still being fun on the melty afternoon rides home 🙂
evan and his friend build igloos in the sun, while I work on my bike in the sun. starting to feel like spring…
no running water outside for a few more months, so did a dry clean and lube (with assistance of a bucket of warm water, though). gotta keep it clean so it survives winter riding…
aggregated bike ride map
I used Jonathon O’Keeffe’s great utility for smushing all ride segments from a Strava account into a single map. Very cool. Looks like I forgot to track the Canmore-Banff ride with Evan, though…
Can’t wait for stuff to melt so I can get back out on rural roads…
2012 by bike
It was a great year to ride. 2 rides to the summit of the Highwood Pass. The Banff Gran Fondo. Lots of mid-sized rides in rural Alberta. Riding from Canmore to Banff with Evan. So good.
(every December ride was on a trainer in my basement, sadly. except for the 29th, which was a chilly winter ride with Evan)
And, the traditional every-100km-photo series, with 51 ride snapshots for 2012:
I also have a set of photos taken during the various rides from 2012. Lots of great riding in there.
Hoping to do more longish rides in 2013.
