The water got in around the power control bits. Hoping a few days under a hot lamp might coax it back… Not likely.
starting the paperwork for the school council AGM coming up. lots of fun.
dude, I got a dell
My trusty old Mac Pro finally gave up the ghost, and IT replaced it with a Dell Latitude e6410 laptop.
I’m going to be spending some time getting familiar with Windows 7. The thing came with a 24″ LCD, and a docking station that had two DVI ports, so I slapped in a 20″ Cinema Display as well. Not sure how well a laptop will be able to drive 44″ of display, but I’ll find out soon…
I dropped Safari and iTunes onto it quickly, and set it up to sync with MobileMe, iDisk, DropBox, Evernote, etc… so my stuff was there pretty quickly.
but not for long. I was just about to slap a shiny new 750GB drive into the laptop, tripling the room we have for stuff. It was getting a little cramped before, after filling the stock drive. The laptop also feels a wee bit faster, after jumping up to a 7200RPM drive. It benchmarks at about 50% faster for disk throughput. That ain’t bad…
I spent the day staring at the screen, pruning stuff out of my research proposal and polishing it off. I wound up dropping a bunch of planned data collection. It’s going to be much more manageable now. It’s not quite done, but definitely closer.
