My iPod Touch was a complete brick. I plugged it in to the USB cable, and Aperture fired up, so at least it was recognizing the disk. But it wasn't booting. It wouldn't load enough to talk to iTunes. Had to force the iPod into Restore Mode (hold both buttons until it shuts off, then hold the Power button and then hold Home until the "Connect to iTunes" image appears). Grumble. Now it's downloading the 222.6 MB iPod Software Update. Again. What a waste of time...
