change

I'm changing roles on campus, switching from being an educational technology consultant and instructional designer in the Teaching & Learning Centre, to an IT Partner. I'll be officially part of the IT department, and will be working closely with the TLC and additional units. We'll be fleshing out the details in the coming days and weeks, but it's going to be a fun process. For the first part of the process, I'll still be in the same office at the TLC, so while things will be changing, they will also be rather familiar.

From what I understand, the role is largely about communications and planning - talking to people in faculties and departments, helping them to figure out what they need and want, and then working with folks in IT to figure out how to best support those needs.

In a way, this is what I've been doing, on a smaller scale, through the Teaching & Learning Centre for some time now. But, the IT role will hopefully provide the opportunity to have a broader impact, as opposed to in isolated projects.

The position is a hybrid, where I'll be reporting to IT, but working in the TLC (and other units). Initially, I'll still be doing the same TLC things (workshops, etc...) and then will transition over.

My parents have always thought I was in IT all these years anyway, so this should help reduce confusion a bit...
