My Pachyderm ePortfolio

In the process of getting ready for our session on Thursday, I started to put together an ePortfolio for myself using Pachyderm. I’ve done several “sample” ePortfolios before, but not a full-blown attempt. Something about eating your own dogfood… So I gave it a shot. It’s still pretty rough, and the “Projects” and “About this…” sections are still empty, but it’s a start. I need to flesh out most of the pages as well, as I’ve currently just got command+c command+v content migration from blog posts and wiki pages.

I found the process difficult – not because of the software (Pachyderm actually worked really well for this, aside from one minor bug I found) but because I kept thinking “But, that’s what my BLOG is for!” – many of the pages are just vectors for links to pages on my blog.

  1. Very interesting, D’Arcy. Thanks for sharing this project/process. I’m not sure how I feel about all the sound effects and musical transitions–maybe I’m just too blog-centered and used to silent interfaces (and now I’m thinking about that, which is interesting)–but it sure looks nice and navigates well. I did try to find your podcasting presentation but got only a “file not found”–I’m guessing you just don’t have it there yet?

  2. Yeah – looks like a bug in Pachyderm. The video is somehow being linked to as a .swf file, which doesn’t exist. I’ll check into it ASAP.

At first, I HATED the sound effects, but have grown to really like them. They can be a bit much if a lab full of computers are all being used to work with a piece of contet (bing bing bing bing bing bing) but even that’s not too bad…
