personal bike lane markers

NewImage.jpgA friend just sent me a link to this [interesting bike safety light backpack](http://yeahsnos.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/999/) – looks like a display mounted on the backpack, capable of displaying symbols to show what you’re doing, in addition to providing visibility. Looks cool, but I’m not sure I’d want a glowing green bullseye on my back…

I’d seen something similar recently – a bike-mounted laser bike lane marking system [by LightLane Bike](http://www.lightlanebike.com). It’s still just a prototype under development [by Altitude, Inc.](http://www.coolhunting.com/tech/lightlane-perso.php), but it looks really promising.

I really like this idea – it’s more than just showing drivers that there’s a bike in front of them, it reserves space for the bike and creates a visible (although virtual) barrier that could help keep cars from encroaching.

And, it’s a frickin’ laser. On your bike. Awesome.
