darkness at 4400km

darkness.

the stars were still out, with Orion clearly visible to the south.

predawn colours were building to the east, and the rest of the early morning sky was a rich, deep gradient from black, through indigo, touching on pink and red toward the rapidly approaching terminator to the east.

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something magical about riding in the darkness, and something even more magical and amazing about riding into a building sunrise.

I love this time of year.

This is the middle of a big, multi-year construction project that will eventually result in a ring road around the city, and 2 major interchanges within 1km of each other here. The primary entrance to my community is being rerouted, as it would be directly in the middle of these two interchanges. I can’t wait until I can stop living in a construction zone…

At first I didn’t like the overly blurred photo, but this works for me on so many levels. The motion blur, and slight blur of the bike itself. That’s what it feels like when I’m riding. Reality blurs. It’s just me, in focus, and everything else just blurs by as I pass through. The only other way I could describe it would be like The Ring Effect, when Frodo slips that sucker on…
