the road blurs past me on the ride home today – only the bike in sharp focus – everything else dampened, lost in thought.

I’d wanted to try a shot like this since getting the 10-20mm lens. I wrapped the camera strap tightly around my left hand, and pumped of a whole bunch of shots while leaning down as I rode. I was going about 25km/h when I shot this.

At first I didn’t like the overly blurred photo, but this works for me on so many levels. The motion blur, and slight blur of the bike itself. That’s what it feels like when I’m riding. Reality blurs. It’s just me, in focus, and everything else just blurs by as I pass through. The only other way I could describe it would be like The Ring Effect, when Frodo slips that sucker on…
