Open Classroom Week - BCEM 393

Open Classroom Week gives instructors the opportunity to observe what others are doing in their classrooms and engage in conversations about teaching with their colleagues. A number of instructors will open their classroom doors to allow their colleagues to watch them teach and observe their approaches to different classroom settings, teaching practices, technology applications and learning experiences.

BCEM 393 - Introduction to Biochemistry

Instructor: Isabelle Barrette-Ng
Course description: The structure and function of carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins, lipids, coenzymes and enzymes will be presented, along with an introduction to metabolism and energy transduction. Laboratory: Overview of current biochemical techniques for studying proteins, enzymes and metabolic pathways.

Observers can expect to see teaching strategies including: flipped approach, small group work, problem solving (individual or group), case studies, and personal response systems (clickers, TopHat, Kahoot etc).
