the sun sets, directly in line with the trench carved on top of the sidewalk, through the most recent layers of snow.

treacherous
The most dangerous stretch of my commute, by far (not counting dealing with cars). The snow wasn’t cleared, and was left in giant drifts on each side of the sidewalk/pathway. It hit +13˚C yesterday, so most of it melted, only to freeze overnight. Slick. Hard. Sharp. Dangerous. I wiped out on this spot. Thankfully, I wasn’t going very fast (but I did have to duck my head, so it didn’t smash one of the cement pillars). Fun times.
dawn lines
dawn over Tuscany Boulevard, through power lines and streetlights.
boulevard unicycle
I saw this bike, stranded on the boulevard between 5 lanes of traffic. Someone was having a bad day…
cruising under stoney
I was bonked on the ride home. Completely out of gas, so I had to stop to rest briefly under the Stoney Trail overpass. There were lots of other bikes out on the path, which is always great!
2010 @ 2000km
I passed the 2000km mark just as I was leaving my community on the way to work this morning, along Tuscany Boulevard and Stoney Trail. The mountains were looming large this morning. It was a great ride, and I nearly didn’t stop when I got to campus…
blizzard ride
Another strong cold front blew into the city today. Wind gusts over 70km/h. Snow. Blowing snow. Ice obscured by snow and blowing snow. It was a fun ride home. The studded tires worked great, too – only lost traction momentarily twice, and didn’t go down at all. Good ride!
ribbons of motion
morning commuters rushing through suburban Calgary
apocalyptish
the sunrise this morning was spectacular. rapidly shifting from deep reds to bright oranges in just a few minutes.
crossing
part of the new interchange at Stoney Trail and Tuscany Boulevard. Traffic rushes out of the subdivision for the day. I head through the tunnel on a (still incomplete) bike path that leads to Scenic Acres (where it ends abruptly).
