SoTL Project Development: A Three-Part Workshop

This three-pronged workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of developing scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) projects. After exploring the varied approaches, designs, and methods of SoTL, participants will identify how to draw on their own expertise (and potentially reach outside of their comfort zones with the help of colleagues) in conducting their own SoTL projects. By viewing a range of sample projects and learning some of the markers of quality, participants will leave the workshop prepared to conduct their own projects—and to apply for additional opportunities and resources (e.g., SoTL seed funds, lesson study or SoTL streams of the Teaching and Learning Grants, conducting the project in one of the Taylor Institute’s learning spaces, et al.).

The workshop contains three required components:

  1.     One three-hour session in the Taylor Institute,
  2.     A week of light reading and planning on your own, and
  3.     A final three-hour session in the Taylor Institute.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided during each face-to-face session.
