Graduate Student Teaching Development: Creating Your Teaching Dossier

Teaching dossiers present an integrated summary of your teaching philosophy, approaches, achievements and effectiveness. They are often used to communicate and provide evidence of the scope and quality of teaching within the context of academic hiring processes, teaching awards programs, and tenure and promotion processes. The goal of this session is to provide an opportunity for participants to actively explore the process of creating a teaching portfolio.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Reflect on and articulate your beliefs about teaching and learning and how they connect to your teaching/learning strategies
  • Describe the key components of a teaching dossier
  • Prepare a teaching dossier that aligns your core teaching and learning beliefs to the scope and quality of your practice
